Virginia State
Hi! We are a fun group of women ranging in age from our twenties to our seventies. We get together frequently to socialize as well as to raise money through our 501(c)3 non-profit for causes close to our hearts. Our common bond is British or Commonwealth of Nations heritage. Right now the only Chapter is in Alexandria, VA. If you’d like to know more about Pimm’s and Poppies Chapter, click here. Follow us on Facebook!
Our history
The Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) in the U.S.A. was founded in the United States on March 15, 1909, as the Imperial Order, Daughters of the Empire in the U.S.A., and became the National Society, Daughters of the British Empire in the U.S.A. in 1920. Members like us, joining together in fellowship, contribute significantly to the good of our local communities and support four retirement homes for men and women established by the DBE.
The DBE is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian, voluntary American society of women of British or Commonwealth birth or ancestry. Our members are professionals, businesswomen and homemakers with common interests and heritage, who meet regularly for business and social events with the common cause of philanthropy.
The National Society is incorporated in the state of Delaware and is affiliated with the Imperial Order, Daughters of the Empire in Canada (I.O.D.E.); the Victoria League, London England; and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in the United States.
Please come and meet us at our next meeting or event. Contact us for details.
The Daughters of the British Empire is a registered non-profit 501(c)3.
