Up-coming events
Friday October 23-24 – Eastern District Meeting in Baltimore. Delegates from Virginia are encouraged! Kearsley has all the details.
October – November – Stir-up Sunday Raffle Ticket Sales. We are bringing back our nationwide raffle for a Hamper from Fortnum & Mason with some extra British goodies. Tickets to be drawn on Stir-Up Sunday, November 29th.
Saturday November 7th – Bonfire Night – 5pm – 7pm. At Kelly’s home. Bring a toy for the toy drive and an appropriate snack. Sock Guy Fawkes will be despatched.
Saturday December 5th – Scottish Walk, Old Town. Details to follow.
Sunday December 20th – Casual Christmas – A party with parlor games. At Jane or Heidi’s, depending on numbers!
Saturday January 16th 2-4pm – A New Year Tea at the Little Sisters of the Poor Senior Home.
Sunday January 24th – 2-4pm – Business Meeting with Dues collection.
DBE Pimm’s & Poppies Book Club
Saturday, November 21 – The next book pick is Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth, which we will discuss from 2:30-4:30. Jacqye has graciously offered to host at her place. Details to follow.
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
- DBE will award four $500 scholarships annually. Recipients can be from any of the four DBE geographic Districts (Eastern, Western, Midwest, and Southern)
WHO MAY APPLY
- Female students, 18 years of age or older, who are residents of the USA with Commonwealth of Nations ancestry.
- Applicants must be a student at an accredited two or four-year college or university.
- Applicants must have a college 3.0 GPA or better (students in the second semester of the Freshman year are eligible to apply.)
- Applicants cannot be a State, Chapter, or Member-at-Large member of DBE.
