DBE National Council Meeting — May 16-18
The DBE National Convention is coming to Alexandria! Volunteers will be needed to host the Hospitality Suite and host the Friday night dinner at The Light Horse, King Street, and generally be helpful.

Please read the below info from National Board member — Our own Kearsley Rand, National 1st Vice-president!

Hello Pimm’s and Poppies!  I wanted to urge you all to consider registering for our  National Council Meeting here in Virginia in Alexandria, May 16th through May 18th. We are the host city and it would be nice to have Virginia be represented and really shine! The link to register is https://www.eventbrite.com/e/national-council-meeting-tickets-835080918507 It is interesting to meet DBE members from all over the country and find out what they do for fun and for fundraising.  Some of the meeting portions seem a bit long but it is because these women really care about the DBE.

You don’t have to register for everything, but I hope you will attend at least some of the events.

We have a British Embassy Tour planned with a tour of the house and gardens followed by tea and biscuits at the Embassy.  That will definitely sell out, so sign up for tickets before that happens. Preference will be given to those that attend the meeting portion of the weekend. We will also have a dinner dance on Saturday which should be fun.  Last year Kelly McCarthy was a dancing machine!

Most of you probably don’t know the cycle of the National Board, but the DBE has 4 Districts (we are in the Eastern District).  The National Board rotates through each District every three years.  Each year the National Council Meeting is held in a different city within that District.  We won’t have the chance to be the host city for at least another 12 years, so it is a big deal that we are hosting it this year. Especially since we have only been operational since March of 2017.

We will be asking you to help man (woman) the hospitality suite and provide baked goods and help with registration.  It is easy to sign up for the fun stuff but we will need your help to make this happen.

Bookclub

Sunday April 28: Return of DBE Book Club (2pm to 4pm)
As we come back from a long book club break we will start with a fun and light hearted book. We will be reading Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris by Paul Gallico.
